Getting a Lister Engine

The BELT project at the City College of New York has been working on a vegetable oil preheating system that will work in conjunction with a Lister Engine. Such engine, however, is crucial to testing our main goal which is to see if we can run a 500-hour test of the preheating system along with the actual engine.

Since we, at the City College, have been able to design an electrical preheating approach, we are now ready to obtain the actual Lister engine. The problem is that a Lister engine cannot be found at your local store, and therefore some research has been put to it—along with the help of enthusiasts in this subject—to find places to purchase the engine.

According to one source Lister engines are sometimes donated to student projects. This is a matter, of course, of finding the right place to do this and to support the need for one very strongly. That is, you may have to prove that you are in fact a student, and that your school is sponsoring or running a program that requires the use of a Listeroid. You may also claim to help the donating company by means of advertising—perhaps through the use of a website—or by providing them with updates about your particular school’s use of the Lister engine.

The following links can be used to find more information on Lister engine companies from India:

The other option is actually purchasing the engines. There are many options when it comes to this but perhaps one of the best is going to eBay and browse through the eBay Stores. You can find many options to choose from and probably within the same state/region you’re in.
