Experiment Setup – Preheating System

The first experimental setup was arranged by Amir Nosrat and me (Johan Tolosa) on August 9, 2007 in the basement of the City College’s mechanical engineering department. The following materials were required for the setup:

Vegetable oil—we used canola oil.
Two buckets to hold the unheated and heated oil respectively.
Plastic piping to connect the buckets to everything else in the system.

One (1) car battery
A thermocouple—to measure the temperature of the heated oil
A timer—to control our flow rate (1/2 liter per 15 min.)
