Bio-Engine Longevity Test (BELT) at the City College of New York

The purpose of the the BELT project is to design a complimentary kit that increases the efficiency of a Lister engine operating on bio-diesel. Since we don’t have such engine yet at the CCNY, we will focus on the oil pre-heating system.

An electrical heating approach was suggested and the assembly of all parts to run the experiment should be conducted this week.

Such approach heats the bio-diesel before it enters the engine to an ideal temperature of 100-120C.

More information will be entered to this Wiki once we have run experiments.

All participants of the BELT program are CCNY students—including myself, and our advisor is professor James Hammonds.
